Blue is a deep colour. It surrounds us in the sky and the ocean. As diverse as the etymology of the word “blue”, as numerous are the findings collected in this blue-tinged book.
“Blaues” approaches a colour, often by withdrawing itself from it. It traces its paths and detours, its vague identities. We encounter blue in the shape of language, memory, sense, images. Documents, ideas and tales lead us further (and) away: Wandering as methodology.
Beginning with the sensory experience of colour, the contributions in this book solidify the idea of colour as an idea. They turn “Blaues” into more than a merely colourful, mani-blue album. They introduce us to a colour that can act as a ground, an artefact, a compass. Blue is a starting point, an actress, a directress. It flees and it stays, it comes near, it condenses, soon muggy and yet always out of reach. In the end: no traces of any/more glorification. Text: Anna Hack
